Unveiling the Future of Connectivity: What to Expect in Technology 2025
At Simplifi Networks, one of our core missions is to stay ahead of industry trends and bring cutting-edge technology solutions to the African market. Our founder, Ken Stober, has been in the technology industry since 1982, witnessing and even installing some of the earliest LANs (Arcnet, Coax, 10Base-T, Token Ring). He has seen the launch of groundbreaking innovations such as the 386, 486, and Pentium processors, Microsoft Surface, mobile phones, portable music players, Wi-Fi and many others

Today, we have AI embedded in smartphones, 802.11ah HaLow enabling Wi-Fi coverage up to 9km, GPON/EPON fiber-to-the-desktop solutions, IoT applications like LoRaWAN, Small Form Factor Computing, among many other advancements.
AI remains the industry’s biggest buzzword, with nearly every company “claiming” to integrate AI into their products. However, true AI applications will require time to mature, prove their value, ways to make money. Just last week, China introduced DeepSeek, a new AI development that caused turbulence for AI company stock valuations, impacting Nvidia, Alphabet, and Microsoft. This reaction felt reminiscent of the blockchain hype a few years ago.
Looking ahead to 2025, Simplifi Networks is actively testing and exploring various innovations to bring to market. Here are some of the key areas we are focusing on:
1. Small Business GPON Solutions
Many of us are familiar with GPON technology, primarily through fiber internet services from providers like MTN and Airtel. However, a new trend is emerging—leveraging GPON/EPON for businesses, hotels, and apartment buildings. We are exploring compact EPON/GPON solutions, including one-port OLTs capable of supporting 128 users for fiber-to-the-desktop. Additionally, we are integrating PoE ONU switches, addressing the issue of POE and fiber, this is for access points and surveillance cameras. We already have these solutions running in our office—stay tuned for more updates, or visit us for a live demonstration.
2. Next-Generation Firewalls for Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity is a growing concern, with ransomware, phishing attacks, and malware becoming daily threats to networks worldwide. In response, Ruijie has introduced a new firewall that competes with leading brands like Sophos and Fortinet at a highly competitive price.
● Pricing: Under $700 (includes a one-year subscription)
● Annual Renewal: $200 per year
● Reliability: Tested and validated in Kaspersky Labs
We have deployed this firewall at our office—feel free to visit us and learn more about its capabilities.
3. Internet of Things (IoT) & LoRaWAN Technology
At Simplifi Networks, we have been actively testing LoRaWAN technology, a low-bandwidth monitoring solution operating at 868MHz. This technology enhances connectivity by overcoming line-of-sight (LOS) and building penetration challenges. We are currently conducting proof-of-concept (PoC) projects in agriculture and weather monitoring. If you are interested, we would love to discuss its potential applications with you.
Looking Forward to 2025
As we step into the future, Simplifi Networks is excited about the transformative technologies that will enhance connectivity, improve efficiency, and drive innovation across industries. Whether it’s next-gen GPON solutions, advanced cybersecurity measures, or IoT applications, we are committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions that empower businesses and communities.
We invite you to visit us, test these technologies firsthand, and join us in shaping the future of connectivity.
